My top five Artemano picks for spring

About English

‘Tis the season of transformation. Snow is melting, making way for green grass to emerge; trees are budding; the mornings are brighter and the days are longer. As the outdoor world is going through its metamorphosis, I have the urge to change things up indoors. I’m not referring to a major makeover. What I’m in the mood for is the inclusion of accessories and of small pieces of furniture that can inject a breath of fresh air into my home.

So today I share with you my top five Artemano picks that are not only my favourite for the season, but which I think can potentially have your guests talking as soon as they lay eyes on them.

Soft-spoken Buddha

I just love this handcrafted Buddha statue. It makes me think of faraway lands. For me, part of its beauty is expressed through the position in which it sits.  This Buddha is a master yogi and knows a thing or two about meditation. I could stare at its composed, wise face for undetermined lengths of time. I feel as if it’s silently talking to me, teaching me about peace, tranquility and relaxation. Whether this Buddha sits on the mantle of a fireplace or a few of them are to be placed on the shelves within a bookcase, it’s a perfect addition to a home, bringing with it wisdom and harmony.

Artful teak

What is remarkable about our various-sized teak panels is that they are all meticulously hand sculpted by Thai artisans. I’m mesmerized by how these artists can create such intricate and varied Thai floral patterns from their bare hands. I’m a big fan of these teak panels because of their versatility. They can be used as wall art, they can be placed behind a bed as a decorative headboard or, most originally and my favourite of all, hung from the ceiling as a canopy over a dining room table or a bed. Thus, creating a unique reflective effect when paired with the right lighting that transports me into another space. Whichever way they are employed, they’re sure to make a statement in your home.

Accent piece

What makes this open-frame bookcase special is the fact that it"s constructed out of recycled wood, which originates from fishing boats used by Indonesian fishermen. The wood in itself is a testament to durability and strength. It has bared witness to stories, experiences and lives lived, and it carries dents and cracks as proof to all that it has seen. Its marks give it, its unique charm and character. I love the way the wood is paired with metal giving it an industrial, modern feel. The splashes of turquoise make me think not only of spring but also of the Mediterranean. This is a great accent piece that can live in any room and can have many uses.

Elephant in the room

As a symbol of wisdom, how can I not pick this gold elephant as part of my spring line-up? This whimsical hand carved ornament that can be used anywhere. Even as part of a table setting when having guests over for dinner. Its bell gives it a toy-like quality that I think is fun. Its gold colour reminds me of the sun and spring. Ultimately it makes me smile and that’s reason enough for me to include it in my home.

Magical lamp

I just can’t get enough of this lamp. Its perforated design is fun and creates majestic light patterns that are magical. They transport me to the land of Aladdin and Ali Baba. This is the perfect source of light to use in your home this spring when welcoming guests and when wanting to create an atmosphere that is unlike any other.
