Live from our escape: the art of mixing

About English

Many clients express their enthusiasm about the creative ambiances we display at Artemano.  They often tell me that Artemano has inspired their flair for decor and love for nature-inspired products. That our minimalistic approach to design is captivating. That they become inspired by the way we mix different woods and elements together.

Creating a visually interesting space with dimension and layers, lends itself to one of Artemano’s signature design approaches: the magic of mixing and contrasting different components together. When placing different but right elements together the result can become an artistic expression. Combining different elements like wood, colour, texture and style can widen aesthetic range and make a space fascinating.

Every component of an Artemano setting is paired and placed to compliment and stand apart from each other, making sure each element has a focus and that the ambiance exudes clean lines, simplicity and contrast. I am constantly fascinated how my creativity flourishes when combining different woods and tones in a space.

Stepping into our showroom, our guests become excited about how they can recreate the magic of Artemano in their own space. By implementing different types of woods, grains and stain colours, the space remains fresh as it constantly evolves. I see more people moving away from matching their dining table to their buffet and going with two completely different woods, colour tones and styles. Keeping the table and sideboard different will highlight each piece and create a dynamic complimentary presence. Additionally, mixing different woods can result in a collected look, instilling warmth and depth to your space.

I recently met a wonderful couple who visited the showroom looking to furnish their bedroom. As they toured around the store looking at the various options, they held up a sample of their flooring to the wood they were considering for their bed. I noticed that they were thinking of matching their hardwood floors to the wood of the bed. With this observation in sight, I pointed out several examples of how we mix different tones of wood together. The couple quickly realized that choosing a contrasting bed frame to their existing floors would be a stylish addition to their space.

I encourage clients to recreate their space with complementary wood tones and contrast. I had a client share with me a photo of her kitchen after her Artemano purchase. In her modern style kitchen embellished with white marble, chrome accents and glossy cabinetry, stands one of our stunning reclaimed tables. The table serves as a piece of art and focal point to the rest of her modern furniture, adding warmth and character. It is amazing to see clients loving their purchases and share with us how that special piece transformed their space.

When contrasting visual and tactile elements of design the rewards are satisfying. Allowing your space to evolve by introducing pieces you love feeds the creative process. I hope that Artemano’s way of design empowers and inspires clients to experiment with mixing a variety of organic elements to create original and exquisite results. After all, decorating your space doesn’t have to be complicated, especially when you want it to reflect your lifestyle, personality and the things you love. Home is about creating your own oasis that is uniquely you, a place where you feel comfortable and at peace.
