When we open our home to guests we make room for the sounds of chatter and laughter to permeate our personal space. At Artemano, we strive to create environments where friends and family feel total comfort and our homes become alive with stories told, moments shared and memories created.
At Artemano, we love to entertain.
Our very own in-house stylist, Edith Marrié and in-house designer, Lisanne Blain, share with you top tips on how to create an easy, fun and relaxing entertaining atmosphere.
Lighting
Lighting is unparalleled in completing the look and feel of any room. To create texture, Edith and Lisanne experimented by placing two lamps asymmetrically, side-by-side.
A table lamp adds another layer and extra dimension. It provides indirect lighting, and injects warmth for an overall soft and soothing visual effect. The table lamp becomes a decorative object and a talking point for guests.
As a final touch they placed candles throughout the room to enhance the mood and relaxed feel.
Ensuring that every corner is warmly allows friends to comfortably fill a maximum foot-print.
Hidden Seating
Enough seating is a must while entertaining. Edith and Lisanne used dual purpose furniture that serves as seats while entertaining and different purposes at other times.
Poufs are so versatile. They’re light weight enough to move around and provide a comfortable, fun and playful seating option. When guests aren’t over, they are easy to stack or can be used decoratively.
Stools have unsurpassed multi-functionality. They can be lined up to display books or decorative objects, they can be re-arranged to accommodate guests or can make for fun serving surfaces.
Art of Serving
When a group of mouths need to be fed, Edith and Lisanne recommend serving platters and dinnerware that is organic, natural and multifunctional.
Guests will feel at ease to help themselves to food that is readily available and on display. Large freeform teak bowls are a great option. They can also be used to hold accessories or magazines.
Another fun option is, serving food in hand carved platters and handmade clay dishes that bring out natural colours.
To round out our key entertaining pieces, Edith and Lisanne suggest to keep a few trays on-hand. They’re great for buffet-style dinners or simply for ensuring that the host doesn’t have to make too many trips to the kitchen.
